Point and Fix tool doesn't work

When I upgraded to the newest version of TC, the Point and fix tool in the Object Spy stopped working as it did in the past.  It won't allow me to initiate the object that will initiate a secondary object that I wish to map.    Because of this I cannot select items in a dropdown field as it doesn't recognize the objects listed in the dropdown.
